Faithfully

This song says it all....

Tonight I saw a shutting star
Made me wonder where you are
For years I have been dreaming of you
I wonder if you're thinking of me too
In this world of cheep romance
Love that only friends are throught the dance
Say that I'm a fooled away for something more
How can I really love someone I've never seen before
I am long for true love every day that I had lived
And I know real love is all about learning how to give
I pray that God will bring you to me
I pray you'll find me, waiting faithfully.

Faithfully, I am yours from now until forever
https://Versuri.ro/w/ojq1
Faithfully, I will write, write you a love song with my life
Cause this kind of love's worth waiting for,
No matter how long it takes, I am yours, faithfully

Tonight I saw two lovers kiss
Reminding me of my own lonely
Say that I am a full to keep on praying for you
How can I give a pleasure for a dream that won't come true
I will keep believing that God still has a plan
And though I can not see you now, I know that He can
And someday I will give you all of me
Until I find you, I'm waiting faithfully.

Scarborough Fair

For years now, I have been so curious of the meaning of this song by Simon and Garfunkel that finally I did a research on the internet. It turned out, this was an old English Ballad that could date back to the 1600  and is similar to the Elfin Knight tale. So many versions have already been made to this tale that it is quite hard to know which is the original (if ever the original version could be traced).

Compared with the popular song we know today, I find this version, published in 1889, more beautiful because of the exchange of conversation between the two lovers with each one demanding some impossible task to be performed by the other. Although love for them is conditional and will greatly depend on the task being carried out, yet somehow the reader knows that the lovers will be able to perform them. And although both show hesitancy in giving their hearts to the other, yet the reader also knows that they are madly in love with each other but is just being coy and coquettish thus, making the dialogue graceful and witty.

As to Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme, I have always interpreted them as representing a season of the year and that the lovers, no matter when, will always love each other. However, upon research, it turned out that none of them matched my interpretation  and the one which I liked was that Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme are ingredients for a love potion and that the repetition is necessary in order for the concoction to be more stronger. The reader now then is given an image of a witch (a beautiful one I should say) in a hut chanting and dancing while mixing a potion in a big steaming cauldron.

Be Still My Soul

Be still my soul
Be still my soul
Cease from the labor and the toil
Refreshing springs of peace await
The troubled minds and hearts that ache

Be still my soul
God knows your way
And He will guide
For His name's sake
Plunge in the rivers of His grace
Rest in the arms of His embrace

Be still my soul
Be still my soul
Though battles round you rage and roar
One thing you need and nothing more
To hear the whisper of your Lord

Be still My child
I know your way
And I will guide
For My name's sake
Plunge in the rivers of My grace
Rest in the arms of My embrace

Be still my soul

Be still my soul

Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
'Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.

Desert Song

I am in the desert...

"Where is the LORD that brought us up
out of the land of Egypt?
That led us through the wilderness,
through a land of deserts and of pits.
Through a land of drought,
and of the shadow of death,
Through a land that no man passed through,
and where no man dwelt?"
(Jeremiah 2:6)

And the LORD answered me...

And He said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart
into a desert place, and rest a while."

I Promise

Lord, You know my heart
And all my desires
And the secret things I'll never tell
Lord, You know them well

Though I may be young
I see and understand
That at times like sheep we go astray
And things get out of hand

So I promise to be true to You
To live my life in purity
As unto You
Waiting for the day
When I hear You say
Here is the one I have created
Just for you

Birthday

6am. The alarm rang. I opened my eyes and saw the shocked expression on May's face. A loud cry of "Daoy! Nasakpan nuon ko!". I laughed so hard. She grabbed the cake from the table, lit the candle and sang the Happy Birthday tune. I blew the candle and hugged her tight. She asked to me make a wish and I laughingly and loudly said: "Maka uyab!". She sat beside me on the bed laughing but grumbling at the same time. That darn clock was such a spoiler. Why did it turn on just when she was about to surprise me?

May then gave me my birthday present - a cellphone accessory with my name on it. Explained that there were no longer any letter E available so she replaced the E with a star. Used the present immediately. Further inquiry revealed that she had also bought similar trinkets for the rest of the barkada.

I Believe There is More

You have been good to me. You have been good to me. You have been gracious. You have been faithful, meeting my needs. Lord it's so plain to see that You have been good to me. I have been given so much I can't even begin to thank You.

Still I believe there is more. I believe there is more. I believe. So I open my hands to receive all that Your love has in store. Lord I believe.

Everything I have done. All that I've said and sung. Lifting Your story, giving You glory, that's just the beginning. Father I know there is more: Power to heal and restore, miracles, wonders, blessings unnumbered, love never ending.

Still I believe there is more. I believe there is more. I believe. So I open my hands to receive all that Your love has in store. Lord I believe.

Exceedingly, abundantly, more than our minds can imagine. Love overflowing You are bestowing day after day after day.

And still I believe there is more. I believe there is more. I believe. So I open my hands to receive all that Your love has in store.

Lord I believe
Lord I believe
Lord I believe

God Bless the Broken Road

I set out on a narrow way, many years ago
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you

Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart, they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true

That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

I think about the years I spent, just passing through
I'd like to have the time I lost, and give it back to you
But you just smiled and took my hand
You've been there, you understand
It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true

Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart, they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true

That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

But now I'm just rolling home into my lover's arms
This much I know is true

That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

For Kids Only

Yes, I admit, I’m still a kid. I’m already 25 years old, yet I still enjoy watching cartoons and if given the choice between a soap opera and a Disney movie, I will choose the latter without second thoughts.

To prove my point, I have a collection of all Disney cartoons soundtracks. And worst, I memorize them all - from Fairy Godmother’s "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo" ” to Rafiki’s "Eupendi" or Baloo in "Bare Necessities".

I can sing along Genie in "Prince Ali" or Sebastian in "Under the Sea" no matter how fast the beat is or that the words seem to come out like gibberish already.

I am also fascinated with Fantasy movies like "The Never Ending Story", "Willow""Pans Labyrinth" and of course, "Lord of the Rings" and "Harry Potter". Aside from that, movies like "The King and I", "My Fair Lady" and "Fiddler on the Roof", are my favorites as well.

Lately, I have been watching "Pippi Longstocking" on Youtube and it brought back a flood of memories. I can still remember my awe when I saw Pippi with her 2 friends cleaning the house wearing those big brushes which they use as skates. I tried it when I was a kid but was sadly disappointed and puzzled why I didn't move a single inch.

If I Never Knew You

If I never knew you
If I never felt this love
I would have no inkling of
How precious life can be

And if I never held you
I would never have a clue
How at last I'd find in you
The missing part of me.

In this world so full of fears
Full of rage and lies
I can see the truth so clear
In your eyes
So dry your eyes

And I'm so grateful to you
I'd have lived my whole life through
Lost forever
If I never knew you

If I never knew you
I'd be safe but half as real
Never knowing I could feel
A love so strong and true

And if I never knew you
If I never knew you
I'd have lived my whole life through
Empty as the sky
Never knowing why
Lost forever
If I never knew you

(from Walt Disney's Pocahontas)

Cold Enough to Snow

A soundtrack from the movie "Life with Mickey".

Where did summer go?
How did I miss the change of season?
All at once the wind blows rough
It's cold enough to snow

In the street below
People laugh for no reason
Don't they know?
It's cold enough to snow

When we were together
And you were staying
Funny but the weather
Still felt like May in mid December

Now the chill wind blows
Sunny skies are only teasing
You won't show
And it's cold enough to snow

On the radio
There's a man says
It ain't freezing
What's he know?
He didn't watch you go

Now the sun can't shine
If it wants to, fine
But it's cold enough to snow

I Know Him by Heart

In my college years, I stayed with my aunt who had a son. Since we were of the same age, Ben and I always hang out together. He would strum his guitar (which he was very good at) and I would always be the singer. As all music lovers have, he has a collection of songbooks which I always use in our little gigs.

One day, I happened to come across this song. I was so struck with the title that when I read the lyrics, I instantly fell in love with it. Since no one knew it's melody and Youtube wasn't the fad then, it was only about a year ago that I finally learned how to sing it.

Mientras Que Yo Ta Vivi

A testament of love.

Composed by Dr. Norma Camins Conti, a professor (which i got the pleasure of knowing) at WMSU, Zamboanga City, I consider this the most beautiful Chavacano poem I have ever read - and the melody is heavenly too!

Although ma'am Conti said that she wrote this for her brother who died that same year, It is my opinion that this poem is for anyone who loves - a love that is deep and pure that touches the soul.

And would'nt it be really nice if someone recites to you this poem? (sigh)

Mientras que yo ta vivi
Corazon ta vibra
Con amor ta sinti
Dentro el alma ta grita

Cada dia y cada sueno
Ta pensa contigo
Que algun dia juntu kita
Ay hace este realiza

Tu el aire fresco
Del mar el viento
Tu el sol que alumbra mi vida

Abre tu tu corazon
Yo este con mi amor
Todo lo que tu ay sinti
Tus sufrimientos, tus sonrisas
Nunca yo ay puede deja contigo

Todo'l dia y cada sueno
Ta pensa contigo
Que algun dia juntu kita
Ay hace este realiza

Mientras yo ta vivi
Tu mi amor
